* The White Tower (one of the structures within the walls) was built in 1097, and since then, many more towers and other structures have been added.
* The Tower of London has been home to the Crown Jewels since the mid/late 1600's, and they are still on display there today.
* Throughout the years, the Tower of London has been used as a military fortress, prison (as recently as WWII), and a place for executions, just to mention some of the uses.
* Legend has it that if the ravens that live in the tower leave it, the monarchy will fall. (So they help this one along by clipping the wings of the ravens so they can't fly away!)
* The Tower of London is still technically a royal palace (translation: the queen still technically owns it) and people such as the Yeoman Warders (the dressed up guard guys who give tours) still live there.
